The Must-Visit Bars In Austin

If there’s one thing for sure that the Austin, Texas locals know how to do well it’s have a good time. The city is filled with something to do for any and everyone, all day, every day. So, of course we had to ask ATX cool girl Katie Caplener to plug us in to the best bars in town. Read below as she gives us the lowdown on her regular after hours haunts, where she and her equally cool bunch of friends like to kick up their feet (or dip their toes in the pool) and throw one back. Cheers!

Justine’s Brasserie: 4710 E 5th St., Austin, TX.
“Justine’s is the sexiest bar in Texas. The staff is even sexier. They serve up classic French brasserie plates and the best cocktails. Order as many martinis as you can handle then get naked in the mirror room out back. Pro tip: Open late and serving great food past midnight — the kitchen closes at 1:30 a.m. Closed on Tuesdays.”

Last Straw: 1914 E 6th St. Ste. C, Austin, TX.
“The Last Straw is a modern, super colorful tiki bar that feels like you’re walking into a vacation. Go with a big group, sit outside, and order the Endless Summer Booze Bowl, take sips at the same time because making out with your friends is fun. Pro tip: They serve up brunch from 11-2 on weekends. Order at the bar and make an afternoon of it.”

Kitty Cohen’s: 2211 Webberville Rd #3548, Austin, TX.
“This is the cutest bar in Austin and they play really good music. It’s a patio bar with a pool. Dip your toes in the water while you sip a Kitty Spritz.”

White Horse: 500 Comal St., Austin, TX.
“This spot is a good ol’ fashioned honky tonk. They make a mean Paloma. Pro tip: Order the nachos from the Bomb Tacos trailer out back and be sure to wear your two-steppin’ boots.”

Yellow Jacket Social Club: 1704 E 5th St, Austin, TX.
“Yellow Jacket has cheap drinks, and it’s a great place to see Austin’s finest local crowd. You’ll leave here wanting more tattoos. Pro tip: If you’re hungry and eat meat, get the Pork Belly Sandwich. It’s damn good!”

Kinda Tropical: 3501 E 7th St, Austin, TX.
“Kinda Tropical is a retro, all-day bar and cafe that’s housed inside an old gas station with a giant back patio. The vibe is always nice and the food is delicious. Pro tip: They have a small grocery section selling beer and wine for all your after-party needs.”
